Record Store Day

Record Store Day

This Saturday, people across the world will visit record stores. Many famous artists release on or right before record store day. Some artists releasing tomorrow are Taylor Swift, Pearl Jam, Hozier, and more. Wallows, Maisie Peters, and others will release new albums on RSD. This event is a big deal to many music lovers.

This year, Paramore is the Ambassador for Record Store Day. Paramore’s goal is to publicize and support RSD to share the importance of music with the world. RSD is an event that happens twice a year. The main event happens every April. The first RSD was on April 19, 2008. It started as a way to promote indie record stores due to vinyl decreasing in popularity. Now that vinyls are becoming popular again, many people continue to participate.

There are typically many sales on this day. There are also special albums that typically release on this day. In some places, people even line up early to get the vinyl they’re looking for. It’s essentially the Black Friday for music lovers. While it can get a little chaotic, this event is important to the music industry and music lovers all across the world.

If you’re interested in RSD, we have many record stores here in Chattanooga.
