The Soddy Daisy Trojans 9-1 are set to clash with the Macon County Tigers 8-2 this Friday night, and anticipation is running high. The Trojans have had a season marked by offensive explosiveness and defensive dominance, and they’re looking to carry that momentum deep into the playoffs.
Offensive Firepower
Soddy Daisy’s offense has been a force to be reckoned with all season. Quarterback A. Pinson has led the offense, racking up 719 passing yards and 573 rushing yards. His ability to make plays both through the air and on the ground keeps defenses guessing.
Pinson has a talented receiving corps at his disposal. M. Bowman leads the team with an impressive 411 receiving yards, showcasing his big-play ability. T. Ross has been a key contributor with 253 receiving yards, 625 rushing yards, and a remarkable 15 total touchdowns. And let’s not forget about running back G. Welch, who has rushed for 694 yards and even added 237 receiving yards.
Defensive Stalwarts
But it’s not just the offense that has opposing coaches losing sleep. The Trojans’ defense has been nothing short of stifling, recording three shutouts this season. This is a testament to their ability to swarm to the ball and shut down opposing offenses. Keberdle leads the defense with 72 tackles. He’s joined by a host of playmakers, including B. Murray (58 tackles), E. Spurlock (58 tackles),
K. Hickman (52 tackles), and A. Lott (44 tackles), who have consistently made their presence felt on the defensive side of the ball.
The Trojans are also adept at forcing turnovers. B. Yother and G. Montgomery lead the team with an impressive five sacks each. At the same time, Gannon Montgomery has also caused an incredible seven fumbles! A. Lott and K. Hickman have two interceptions each. The defense has caused 18 fumbles, demonstrating their ability to create game-changing plays.
Keys to Victory
Friday night, the Trojans must continue their strong play on both sides of the ball. If Pinson can distribute the ball effectively and the offensive line can control the line of scrimmage, Soddy Daisy’s offense will be tough to stop. A big part of that success falls on the offensive line, anchored by J. Davis, C. Wilson, J. Dodd, L. Renfro, and P. Laxton. On defense, the key will be to contain Macon County’s key offensive weapons and force turnovers.
With a passionate home crowd behind them, the Trojans are poised for a deep playoff run. If they can play to their potential, they’ll be a tough out for any opponent.
