When it comes to teamwork, usually the phrase “power in numbers” comes up. It means that people working together will work faster, more efficiently, and more thoroughly than individuals working alone. Running a newspaper is the epitome of a teamwork affair; it requires the combined efforts and talents of many people on a staff. So, with all that being said, it is my pleasure to introduce you to the 25-26 Trojan Tribune staff– a grand total of three people.
Three? Just three? Yeah, I hear you. I expected a couple more, too. Not only was it daunting to think of covering the responsibilities of reporters, writers, proofreaders, photographers, and all that a newspaper team requires… it felt a little impossible, too.
The fact is that there are a lot of things going on in our community, and it might be a little difficult for just three people to capture it all. Although we don’t really have the plentiful staff of our dreams, we have the passion– and I think that will be enough.
Our first writer is Lucy Campbell, a junior who is excited for the school year! She is a part of the choir at Soddy and enjoys singing. In her free time, you can find her practicing guitar or sketching.
Next up is Emma Verble, a junior who has only been in Soddy Daisy for 8 months. Though she is a new student, she has made lots of new friends and loves meeting new people! In her free time, she likes to go to concerts, take hikes, and do art projects. She also likes long walks on the beach and would love someone to join her (wink wink).
Lastly, is me– Susanna Smith! I am a junior who has lived in Soddy my whole life. I have always liked writing, and I am very excited for the experience and opportunities that the Trojan Tribune will give me. In addition to working on the newspaper, I am a percussion captain for the Marching Trojans. After school, you can find me at band rehearsal, watching New Girl, or hanging out with friends.
It is our pleasure to write for you for the next 9 months, and we hope that we can fill the shoes of the legacy that was left for us. Even if those shoes are really, really big.
Quality over quantity, right?
