The area around Soddy Lake is a popular attraction for locals and tourists alike. Therefore, it is no surprise that it is worn down and needs some renovations and improvements. Last month, the Soddy Daisy Commission voted to amend the zoning ordinance around the lake to create the Soddy Lake Scenic Corridor. This area will include land from Hixson Pike to North Park and 700 feet on each side of Dayton Pike. They hope to promote the area around the lake with sidewalks for safer pedestrian travel and allow only businesses that promote the lake and the corridor.
The commission also passed an ordinance defining smoke and vape shops, CBD establishments, and alternative financial establishments. This will allow the city to attract the right businesses to the new corridor, making the area safe and inviting for families.
In addition, Diane Walker is organizing another town meeting on October 24, at 7 PM, at Freedom Church for the citizens to hear from those running for commissioner.
