For the first time since 2018, Head Coach Josh Owensby led the Trojans to victory over the Rhea County Golden Eagles. The Trojans offense was led by quarterback, Tucker Ross, who had four touchdowns and 194 total yards. Ross was protected by his offensive line who gave up zero sacks the entire night. Along with Ross, running back Gage Welch had a big opener with two touchdowns and 159 total yards.
After the game, we asked players, fans, and coaches their opinions on the home opener. All were thrilled as the new season looks very promising. Head Coach, Josh Owensby, was quoted saying, “It was a good win against a very good opponent that will hopefully get us going in the right direction”. Along with Owensby, Caleb Collier and Kyle Hinch said they were just as excited for the rest of the season, ending with “Go Trojans!”
As the coaches and players look to the rest of the season, they are excited to face Ooltewah on August 30th. Kickoff will be at 7:00 PM at Ooltewah High School. Go Trojans!
