O.J. Simpson, former NFL player, actor, and suspect in the murder of Nicole Simpson, his ex-wife, and Ron Goldman, a friend of the family, died at the age of 76 due to cancer.
His family announced his death over X, saying “On April 10th, our father, Orentheal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren… – The Simpson Family”
Many people have mixed feelings about his death as he may or may not have aided in the murder of two people. In 1995, O.J. was charged with two counts of 1st Degree Murder with special circumstances. Because of his crimes, O.J. owed the families a total of 33.5 million dollars. Although, according to CBS News, he had not paid this money. Here’s CBS’ report: “O.J. Simpson died Thursday without having paid the lion’s share of the $33.5 million judgment a California civil jury awarded to the families of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.”
Simpson announced his cancer in May of 2023. Simpson made a video of himself announcing his battle with cancer and posted the video to X. He said, “In recent years, really recent years, I unfortunately caught cancer. So I had to do the whole chemo thing.”
Simpson played in the NFL for eleven seasons. He played on the Buffalo Bills from 1969 until 1977 and then the San Francisco 49ers until the end of his career in 1979.
